A 3-days professional hatchery management training was held at Hotel Bengal Blueberry, Gulshan, Dhaka from June 16-18, 2025 to enhance the skills of the poultry sector which Organized by Larive Int'l & Light Castle in collaboration with Royal Pas reform & AXON Ltd in support of Dutch Embassy under Poultry Tech Bangladesh Program.

Poultry Tech Bangladesh is a collaborative initiative focused on fostering the sustainable growth and competitiveness of Bangladesh’s poultry sector. Formed through a public-private partnership between leading Dutch and Bangladeshi companies, the project aims to strengthen the country’s poultry value chain.

As part of its activities, Poultry Tech Bangladesh, in partnership with Royal Pas Reform and the Larive International, has developed a practical, interactive, and hands-on 3-day training program on hatchery management. This program not only equips participants with essential skills and knowledge but also provides a platform for professional hatchery personnel to exchange experiences and insights, enhancing their collective expertise.

A collaborative initiative of the Netherlands and Bangladeshi partners, Poultry Tech Bangladesh, successfully inaugurated a three-day comprehensive training program on hatchery management with the aim of strengthening the country’s poultry value chain. Organized by Larive International and Light Castle and in collaboration with Royal Pass Reform and Axon Ltd., the hatchery management training workshop was held with the support of the Dutch Embassy.

The hands-on training, which concluded on June 18, combined practical knowledge and interactive learning to enhance the skills of professional hatchery workers.

After arrival and registration of participants then delivered welcome, opening and introduction speech by jointly Mr. Zahedul Amin, Managing Director, Light Castle Partners Ltd. & Mr. Zahidul Islam, Managing Director, AXON Ltd.

Then Managing Director of Axon Ltd. Mr. Zahidul Islam inaugurated the training program.

The event was opened by a whiteboard presentation by Ms. Naziba Ali, Business Analyst, Light Castle.

Introduction to Hatchery Management Training by Gerd de Lange, Senior Poultry Specialist – Pas Reform Academy Lotte Hebbink, Incubation Specialist – Pas Reform Academy.

Topics that were discussed in the sessions included are:

1st. Day discussed at the Hatchery Management Training Program:

  1. Embryonic development in the hen.
  2. Optimal egg quality from breeder farm to hatchery.
  3. Continued Optimal egg quality from breeder farm to hatchery incl. egg storage.
  4. (Extended) egg storage.
  5. Hatching egg sanitation.

2nd day (Tuesday 17th of June) discussed at the Hatchery Management Training Program:

  1. Embryology during incubation.
  2. Fundamental points of incubation.
  3. Continued Fundamental points of incubation.
  4. Practical session: - Judging quality of hatching eggs - Embryology - Break-out of clears; calculating “true fertility”.
  5. Practical setter management.

3rd. Day (Wednesday 18th of June) discussed at the Hatchery Management Training Program:

  1. From transfer to chick placement.
  2. Continued From transfer to chick placement.
  3. Egg break-out & chick quality as a tool for fine-tuning incubation.
  4. Work shop ‘Turning hatchery data into information’.
  5. Finally, Break-time + summary & evaluation; handing out of certificates and saying good bye.
